| How To Turn Your Home Show Booth Into A Cash Generating Machine There have been several subscribers (of my paid Newsletter) tell me that they are doing home shows, mall kiosks, or working county fairs.
Most people sit & wait for something to happen at these events. It rarely does. Nothing happens if you wait for someone to disturb you, and ask if they can buy.
Here are common mistakes at home shows and mall shows;
1) Using the show to advertise your store. Why force your customer to do another step. Have what you’re selling there. Why make them wait?
2) Thinking you have to entertain. There is a lot of that on infomercials. Entertaining is diverting the person’s attention away from what you sell. Balloons, bright lights, shiny objects, and other attention getting devices work. They work in attracting the attention of children, teenagers, people who are “walking the mall” and have no interest in what you sell. No offense, but people who’s attention can be captivated by shiny objects isn’t your best buyer.
Did you see the episode of THE APPRENTICE (with Donald “You’re Fired” Trump) where a sporting goods store was to have a promotion? One group of ..um..”Apprentices” decided to have a batting clinic in the middle of the store. Brilliant! They had dozens of children learning how to bat a baseball . they had a refreshment vendor, balloons,,,, it was very exciting…..except……
Nobody was buying sporting goods. Parents were watching their kids play ball. The group of “apprentices” was busy teaching and entertaining the kids and not selling. Nobody wanted selling to get in the way of “The Event”.
There wasn’t even room in the store for the regular customers. There were four “apprentices” in charge of the event. Trump fired them all.
